Ellen Solbakken / Abby Wozniak

Ellen Solbakken (Director):

Mrs. Ellen grew up in Cornelius and has worked in the field of education for over 35 years. Her background includes work teaching high school, preschool and transitional kindergarten as well as serving as a child care administrator. She has a B.A. degree in Spanish from UNC-Greensboro as well as college level training in Child Care Administration. Mrs. Ellen has served as a workshop leader/teacher trainer, focusing on incorporating faith throughout the preschool day and on Making Great Readers. Mrs. Ellen has a heart for faith-based ministry to children and families and is grateful that God has allowed her to serve here at LLA. She and her husband Steve are active at LIFE Fellowship and have two sons (Jon and Jimmy) as well as two grandsons (Caleb and Silas) who live in the area. She lives in Iron Station with her husband and their dog Max.

Abby Wozniak (Assistant Director):

Ms. Abby is originally from Toledo, Ohio, but currently resides in Cornelius.  Her background is rich in child care experience and training.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Over the years she has had the joy of pouring into the lives of children and youth as she has taught Transitional Kindergarten for 4 years, directed an Early Childhood Center for 2.5 years, and was on staff at her home church as a Student Ministries Assistant, as well as a Children’s Ministry Director.   Abby loves the outdoors and greatly enjoys God’s creation.  She loves traveling and college football and spending time with family and friends, especially her two adorable nephews.  She is committed to growing in the knowledge of Christ; a verse of Scripture that Abby treasures is Ephesians 2:8 which says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.”
